The UK Met Office has recently changed its warning from Yellow to Amber as heavy snow is now hours away from hitting the South West.
Throughout this afternoon snow will move in giving quite widespread accumulations of between 3-7cms at low levels with as much as 15cms over the highest ground in South Wales.
This band of snow will stretch roughly from Mid Wales through Oxford and down towards the South East slowly pushing North weakening as it does so.
The Northern extent is still uncertain and some accumulations North of this line is possible however nothing much above 1 or 2cms is expected at this stage.
As we head in to Friday any remaining snow will die away leaving a few snow showers in North Eastern areas.
The outlook for the weekend is largely dry however it will remain cold.
